Hello, and welcome to Go Write Something!
If you want to become an author so you can increase your credibility, build your business or transition to a new career, and CHANGE LIVES, you’re in the right place.
STEP 1: Take on the Author’s Mindset.
You don’t have to be a writer to become an author! (Great news, no?)
Like any project, your book-publishing success starts with developing a success mindset. Know that no matter how many books have been written on your topic, there is still an audience for your unique perspective. If you’re willing to follow the steps to produce a high-quality book and share it with readers, you can experience all the benefits of becoming an author.
Practice daily healthy mindset habits to keep the Author’s Mindset when you start to have doubts or face challenges. This can include anything from breaking a sweat or spending a few minutes in the sun to a regular mediation or EFT practice.
STEP 2: Write Your Book.
Writing starts with your pre-writing steps. This includes identifying who you have in mind as your write your book, narrowing down your topic, scheduling your writing time, and creating an outline for your book.
Don’t shirk the outlining process! Your outline is essentially a project plan for one of the most important projects you’ll ever take on.
And remember to use the power of story to hook your readers and keep them turning pages. Give them ways to connect with you even if they never finish reading the book.
STEP 3: Publish Your Book & Spread the Word.
Find professionals who fit your budget to help you with the things you can’t do for yourself. Copy editors, book cover designers, and interior layout designers are all essential to the self-publishing process. Depending on your preferences and your available funds, you can work with individual freelancers or a publishing services company. Just don’t think you can do it all yourself. That’s a rookie mistake!
No matter how brilliantly written your book is, no one will buy it if they don’t know about it. Contrary to a notion popular in certain circles that authors shouldn’t self-promote, you must promote your book.
But you must do it the right way–by providing tons of value, building relationships with influencers and potential readers, and generously promoting other authors’ books.
STEP 4: Use Your Book to Build, Expand, or Launch Your Business.
Book sales are a great way to create an extra stream of income, but your book can do so much more for you.
Use your book to position yourself as an authority in your niche, to book prestigious speaking gigs, to land more clients, and to draw the kind of media attention that will help your business grow!
Your book can change lives and build your business at the same time. Want to know more?
